My manager is one of the funniest people I know, when he is not under stress. Considering he's...well...a manager, he's under stress all the time, so I really don't see the other side of him too much, but when I do, it's amazing. It doesn't help that he works in an environment where 90% of his employees are gamers, and he will have nothing to do with anything that even smells remotely nerd-like. This also adds to the hilarity.
Case in point: myself and a couple of my coworkers, since it was slow this morning, started talking about WoW and Rift. Full blown nerd talk, complete with stat comparisons, dps outputs, and class discussions. Manager walked up to us, listened for about 30-40 seconds, blinked, about faced, and walked away. Over the walkie, from a safe distance, he said to all of us, "You're not allowed to expose that part of you while I'm around. I'll come back when you've put the nerd away."
To some people, that might be offensive, but we know our manager well, and found it hilarious.
Because it was so slow today, I was basically told to go home and enjoy my day. As I was collecting my things from the break room, my manager was in there taking his lunch, and he said, "It's a gorgeous day out. Make sure to enjoy it. You know....gaming with the window open."
Win.
Haha. He sounds pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteI've never played Rift, and I haven't played WoW in probably nearly a year now. I always thought Rift had some hilarious advertisements though:
"You're not in Azeroth anymore!"
It's like saying, common Bliz, bring it!
